Cool, I checked the list but didn't realize from the title "YASM" that it included an inventory feature.

I'll have to try that one out. It looks very advanced. Just from first impression, I would say that the only plus mine has over that one is that it being simpler might help make it easier to incorporate into other games.

Thanks for pointing it out, so others are aware of it if they view this post.

With the PC release of new Spelunky coming up, I decided to polish up and post my inventory mod that I had started a long time ago.

This adds a new feature, namely an inventory belt that you can swap items into.
Mod is here:

While this does reduce some of the strategy of the game, I was planning to expand on the item system and create a more adventure/RPG style game out of the basic Spelunky engine.

It looks like that part will never be completed, but the inventory system itself can still be fun to use. And, I've included the source so it could be used in anyone else's project.

Controls: press any number key 2-0 to place the object you are holding into the slot. Pressing 1 will empty your hands (equips the whip). You can also hold down the normal item toggle key ('c' by default) to put the item away in an available slot. You can use the number keys or tap the 'C' key to select a slot. Hold down the 'C' key or use the number key to pull the item out of the slot.

Details on the changes are written into the game info.

I hope someone enjoys, and/or finds a use for this.

Looking forward to new Spelunky for PC  Smiley
