So the health HUD has a small issue in that you didnt change the dead player hud

this means that not only does it jarringly switch from light ui to normal ui when you die, but having dead players in multiplier can still be distracting

I uploaded a quick edit here if anyone wants to use it
Ah, that's entirely my bad. Not once played multiplayer, after all. Mind if I shove that into the download? With credit for you pointing out the mistake, of course!

One other HUD element always really bothered me - the black border around the special level pop-ups at the bottom of the screen.  I've died to things hidden behind this many times, so I finally tracked it down in the files and fixed it.  Here's what it looks like modded:



Download the modified hudelements.png file here: http://www.it-is-law.com/dump/hudelements.png and place it inside the ATSTART folder before repacking.
Oooh, brilliant one! I somehow had the thought in my head that the border there was drawn in code at runtime.. guess I was wrong!

Well.. it hurt! You know their death message is "nibbled to death". Now apply that to the other thing, and you get OW!

Personally, I think I would quite like to see the ability to enter your own seed, but only on the condition that it disabled achievements, high scores, and character unlocks. On the other hand, it does destroy one of my favourite things about Spelunky.. that you can NEVER, EVER expect to play the exact same level twice.

It's a tough choice.. in one way, I would probably be too tempted to use them and end up using them all the time, destroying my favourite part of the game.

Something I think might be a neat idea is to hide the seed loading/using functionality behind a random challenge. For instance, get to the temple in 7 minutes without taking any damage. THEN, and only then, you can enter one seed and use it. Want to enter another seed? You need to complete another random challenge!

I think that could be a good way to dissuade them from being misused, while still giving players the ability to "share" maps so to speak.

Well,im the scumbag-est of the scumbags.
I've beaten Hell without even beating once Olmec. Yup, beaten Olmec 1 time and ran in to hell for first time, beat Yama on first try.
ULTIMATE SCUMBAG!

I can so believe that's possible, and it highlights one major problem...

Yama is so, so much easier than Olmec. If you get to Yama with plenty of bombs + the paste, you're almost guaranteed to beat him.. as long as you just pay attention to your surroundings.

Time to start a petition to make Yama harder... Pssst: only kidding!

Also, video of the hell run from the images I posted earlier is uploading right as I type this. About 16 minutes left to upload, tack on some processing time.. maybe about 30 minutes max. I'll post back here once it's up!

If you hear any random outbursts of excitement, that would be because I just beat Yama for the first time ever. I was recording as well, of course, and to show the amount of deaths.. (click to enlarge)



Not too shabby, I would say. 163 plays so far, 159 deaths, beaten Yama once to date!

I expected the block of ice around him would clip with the terrain, and not be all cheating and noclipping around like he does!

The second thing that happened, though.. in the Olemc fight. Anyone seen that happen before?
