Oh, culturally speaking it's a complete hodge podge. From the Jiang Shi, the Chinese King of Hell (his name escapes me), Kali (and having her be who you sacrifice to, itself a bit strange), Yetis, the entire Egyptian thing (Udjet, Hedjet, Sceptre, Ankh, Mummies, Anubis), it's rather amusing seeing it all work so well together.

The Statues on the opening screen, the carvings when the walls shift, etc. Let's see if we can't get to the bottom of it all. So far there's the obvious

1. Olmec head, in reference to the statuary of the civilization of the same name.
2. The unlockable Jaguar Warrior, in reference to the Aztec jaguar warriors in service of the god Tezcatlipoca.

After that things get a bit harder. I'm pretty sure the statues at the opening could be of the Aztec Huitzilopochtli, judging by what seems to be the eagle headdress, but not too sure. As for the carvings over the door, hell if I know. Anyone have any suggestions/answers to these mysteries?

Protip: Do NOT let them have the Shield. Ever. Since you're guaranteed a Bodyguard whenever you open a coffin whose character you already unlocked, it's easy to get one in the Castle. But every time I've killed the Black Knight, the AI sees a shiny new weapon on the ground and must have it. Which wouldn't be a problem if the AI didn't always run me into a wall under a minute later.

Now that's unexpected, and doesn't make sense. So I suppose it really is just a bug.

Doubtful, me killing knights and the Black Knight hasn't yet angered the Shopkeepers. (Plus, they're actually based off Cavemen it seems, or at least the Green Knights are).
It's still very likely the Bomb-Frog/Fire-Frog/Salamander. The thing is, in the PC version it wasn't instant simply because of the Frozen Region (the game wouldn't load areas to far away from you so as to save space, they'd be frozen until you approach), which isn't present in the 360 version, so now such events as the exploding Salamander can happen the second you start a level. Frustrating? Completely, but it's in line with the original game to an extent.

Super, thats a bit much.
No! It's NOT a bit much! This little shit here dislikes Spelunky for bullshit reasons and is going to tell people not to buy the game! I actually think my reaction was an UNDERREACTION!

But that's his opinion. Surprisingly enough, people are entitled to them. Plus, the good fellow is acting rather reasonable about it all, as far things go when such claims are made (the telling people not to buy claim).

Yes, it is. Iirc it came from some LP or another.

And it's had a trope page for ages.

Do you think information should be split between Xbox/PC or on the same page?

Like bats for example...there's nothing new about them so you could easily just create one page for it but the stats for a lot of other enemies are different, like the shop keepers react and behave a little different and have different stores in the Xbox version, as well as being faster and more dangerous.

Maybe a page could have PC facts near the top and Xbox stats near the bottom? I'm not sure how pictures work on wikia but if you could get a lower picture towards the Xbox side then I guess that could work...only problem being its harder to capture parts of the Xbox version since it's on the Xbox...(screenshots etc).

Yes. As I said if it was to been added onto the old wiki, keep a section after the main info for differences.

Then I suppose if his wiki already has info on it, especially that the old doesn't do just that.
I don't contribute to wikis either way.

Good a place as any to post here.

The music is fantastic, despite a bit of nostalgia for the old PC tunes. Which is why when I was playing deathmatch in the Mines levelset, hearing the occasional remix of the PC Mines music was just a great and pleasant surprise.

Despite those flaws of Wikia, at the core it works. I say any who contributed to the original wiki (and have an xbox), just keep contributing with any finds. Set up new pages for the new stuff, create a page of version differences, add notes at pre-exiting pages to speak of differences, etc.

Glad to see an old timer back.
28  Games / Spelunky / Re: Shame about the price and padding. on: July 05, 2012, 01:57:29 AM
Not even close. Minecraft 360 is, as he put it, a far older version. There's so many ridiculous things on a current PC version that can't be found in the xbox one, I know having taken the time to test out more than a few of them.

Either way, an interesting opinion, but after a playthrough of multiplayer I can say I'm more than satisfied with it. I guess a Smash Bros like control over the items wouldn't hurt, but on the whole I've no complaints.

One could posit the same question, How'd they go insane?, to any single character in TF2. Even the side ones from the little comics.
Because let's face it, they all have very clear problems going on.

Like swing music? How about electro swing? It's a genre that I recently found out about, and despite my ambivalence about electronic dance music, I have to admit it sounds fantastic. And here's the vid that revealed the genre to me, appropriate for a Pony thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZqx1H-Y2Us

Imma pretty sure SuperX46 hates anyone who has ever said anything slightly negitive about him. Which snowballs pretty quickly.

Also if you hate the ponies why visit the pony thread? I mean I'm just here for the answers.
