Otherwise, it's very complex.

Not at all, my brain processes it fine; it's a matter of coping to a contour keyboard.

You can get used to anything if you practice.

This I will definitely try. I really hate most of the music in HD. The tracks that are good however are really great but most of the tracks for the regular levels I think are pretty terrible and not at all good for spelunky. I will install this but I will alter it just a little to put in the old classic spelunky tunes  Tongue Thanks for the work!

Have to disagree with you on that one, I find Spelunky's music (regular and HD) to be top-notch and highly unique.

Love the changes in this!

Suggestions: Prevent shops (and maybe altars?) from spawning on the same level as the idol in world 1 (to prevent shop destruction by boulder).

Allow mattocks to dig upwards? (similarly to digging down, but with up lkey held).

Place a bomb below where the boulder will fall and time it so it explodes when the boulder comes close; the boulder with crumble into nothing but a rock. Don't try this is HD spelunky though, since it only gives the boulder more momentum. Or better yet just bomb/mine the idol platform since the trap doesn't go off from that. But still, don't try that trick either in HD.

The OP is dead right - climbing gloves suck in this game. Because of the climbing gloves, i had to stop just jumping into boxes and whipping them, now i'll whip first (even if it means having to fall down and climb all the way back up to the box).

Specifically... ghost running is made very difficult with the glove, as people noted.

And even worse is the worm level, which is rendered just about the hardest thing you can play in the game if you have CG.

The problem  is - if you get offered climbing gloves early on, you don't know if you'll get a jetpack. If there's no JP then i'll take CG all day long. But the two together - CG ruins it.

Oh and also just remembered all those times i had to whip CG into the middle of a room on a blackmarket rampage just to avoid ever getting it by accident.Shame it can't be got rid of like the cape and weapons.

I agree. I bought a jetpack (yes, I know I'm a wimp and thats not how to get a good score, I just wanted to survive) and then I picked up those stupid climbing gloves from a sacrifice, and died on a spike totem in the first jungle level!  Angry
Curse you, climbing gloves!

P.S. You can get rid of the cape? How?

Pretty sure you can't...at least you can swap it for a jetpack or dracula's cape, though.

I think what you mean is "if you don't like something", not if it isn't good.

This has been around since the beginning, I felt the same way as I've had bad things happen from grabbing a one block high ledge plenty of times. But that's how this game works, you have to learn to work with the mechanics and get better, not make the game easier for you. Personally, having to hold against the wall the whole time I want to grab would kill me much more, so I love the gloves actually.

The new glove mechanic has nothing to do with skill, and it's actually intended to be easier but became the other way around (not for everyone, but many.)

I would suggest using AutoHotkey to set up a macro such that when you click the mouse with Spelunky active it sends both the click and a key press. Then you can bind the key press, but clicks will still be recognized as clicks in menus. I haven't personally tested this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Now this is a helpful post. Instead of questioning the OP because he has a different style of play than yours, why don't you actually try helping him, Blaze?

An option for turning it on and off would be ideal, that way players who like it could still keep it. As much as I love the remake and all the things it brings, I'm not really able to get into it fully with this change, it kills me so often. I was trying to escape from the ghost and get into the exit which was against the wall, but three times he kept grabbing the wall, making it look like he was almost taunting the ghost. In the end the ghost got me from this.

Another idea is making the spelunker not auto-grab if you're holding the down key, that way you could have more control over it. The best of the two.

Makes me avoid the climbing gloves now. I don't mind the automatic ledge grabbing, but having the player cling to the wall without moving in it's direction makes them seem pointless, as they seem to do more harm than good. What do you think?

EDIT: talking about the pc version but i'm pretty sure it's on the xbox as well.
