I thought it was a joke/troll game at first, but you have to give it a bit of time. Things are revealed as you play. It has many elements of addictive rpg/grind mobile games and MMORPGs but its free and there's no ads or coins to purchase to advance. Oh..and it's in ASCII.GeoGuessrhttp://geoguessr.com/
This plops you down at random location in the world in Google Street View, and you try to guess where you are by placing a pin on the world map. Your score is based on how far off you were from the correct location. You can't zoom out from street view, but you can pan around to look for clues.
You guess 5 locations each round..here's the results of a round - red pins are my guess, green the correct locations:
