Title: Error on Startup
Post by: WIrving on September 11, 2009, 10:27:16 AM
Heyo,

A friend told me about the madness that is Spelunky, and I wanted to try it on the train to DC today.

I DL the version from the spelunky website, try and run Spelunky.exe

I get the picture of our intrepid hero with his map. Then I get this error.

"
___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Create Event
for object oMusic:

Error defining an external function.
"

I then tried to muck about in the config.exe file, but when I opened that up it gave me the same error.

Anyone have any suggestions?

All folders set up correctly? Should be levels and sound folder in main where the exe is. Not sure beyond that.

Are you running Vista? If you are, try running it with admin privileges.

That brings to mind; you are running on some Windows platform I assume? Linux and Mac versions are not yet available as far as I know.

I'm having this same problem. Redownloaded it with no change.

Any idea how to fix this?

That error seems to be a music issue... and 'external event'... maybe its your sound drivers?

I think it could be related to the external file that's use for sound AND is required it be in the same directory as Spelunky (supersound.dll) the problem could either be:
a) The file has just been renamed and you just need to rename it back.
b) It is missing. Try downloading Spelunky again. OR
C) It is currupted. Try downloading Spelunky again.
Hope that helps. ;)
