Title: Bug: Panning of Damsel's Idle Yell

The panning on the damsel's idle state yell has always been off for me -- when I'm standing to the right of the damsel, I hear her on the right channel, and when I'm standing to the left of the damsel, I hear her on the left channel.

Basically, in this scenario, when she yells, I hear it on the left channel.

In the oDamsel step function, line 199, we see the following code:

Code:
       if (oPlayer1.x < x) SS_SetSoundPan(global.sndDamsel, -10000);
        else if (oPlayer1.x > x) SS_SetSoundPan(global.sndDamsel, 10000);
        else SS_SetSoundPan(global.sndDamsel, 0);
        playSound(global.sndDamsel);
What that says is, "if the player is to the left of the damsel, pan her yelling sound hard left." (See SS_SetSoundPan, which says at the top of the script that -10000 is full left pan.) Which is what I've observed, and it's the opposite of what we want!

this has been around and reported forever, I don't know why Derek never changed it. Maybe he wants it as if the echo is what you hear?

You know before this topic was posted I didn't even know this effect existed, much less that it was wrong

It took me many months before I noticed that you could listen for a damsel in a level! Not sure what version it was implemented in.

Yeah the sound is so similar to something else. A caveman dying maybe?

I still can't hear it? must be the headphones... (I have cheap ones on right now)

I should start turning on my speakers,
or maybe something's wrong with mine.

I can't hear the music for Spelunky
(not yet) so I see no point in listening
to some dumb sound effects.

Mars: Remember there are volume sliders in the config file. If you set the music lower you might hear it.
