Title: Rules :D + some Suggested Guidelines!
Post by: Kegluneq on August 18, 2013, 11:49:34 PM
The original rules!
There are really only three rules:

1. No Spamming!

2. Don't Be a Jerk!

3. No Porn/Warez/Viruses/Malware/Hate!

And please don't post source code for which you have no permission to post.

Disagreeing is okay, cussing is okay, getting heated is even okay - just be reasonable about it and tow it in when you feel like you're losing control.

The admins and mods shall do their best to hold themselves to the same standards as the members.

Your friendly neighborhood admin also reserves the right to ban for any reason, but will try his best not to do so unfairly.

Carry on! ;D

Wait, seriously? I could of sworn there was a rules thread before. Please tell me if I'm wrong but a quick search yielded nothing.
Plus, a few extra guidelines (not rules) to live and play nice, now that HD for PC is out, we have a new wave of members and I'd like to keep this place nice for all of our new spelunkers.

#4: Please, no drama.
This is a video games forum, not a soap opera.

#5: Stay on topic.
Keep the flow of the thread moving, we tend to get derailed a bit too often.

I really can't stress #2 and #4 enough, if you and another member are having a disagreement, keep it to the PMs. No one else wants to hear about it, and all arguing in public accomplishes is roping others in as well.

That's pretty much it, no one seems to really care about minor things like thread necro-ing and double posting as long as they are just and in moderation.

Happy spelunking!

I think we should stick with them unless Derek made another ones.

Ah there they are, what happened to them?

Title: Re: Rules :D
Post by: q0099 on August 19, 2013, 11:54:49 AM
The thread with them was deleted, probably, during one of spam waves.

Although I agree with these rules, do you have authority to make new rules? Not trying to put you down, just asking.

Y'know, that's a very valid point that I hadn't really considered. How about we call them suggested guidelines instead? :P

Yes, do that.

Until you have approval of Derek, I'd say that rule-making is beyond your privileges.

I think all drama perfectly fit into "Don't be a jerk" and "No spamming".

It kind of does yea, but it's such a prominent issue sometimes that it certainly doesn't hurt to explicitly state it.

Can't really say I agree with there not being any drama allowed in these here parts, I mean... Seeing a couple of disgruntled mossmen duking it out makes my day. D:

:/ But it's not just a couple of disgruntled mossmen, it's near full-scale arguments about reoccurring issues that others are just sick of seeing over and over.
I feel bad for the newcomers who float on over to this section and are hit in the face with all this drama.

You got a point there, But I still find the recent chaos on this forum quite amusing. :3

Atleast, Super still gets to make those YTPMV, that's the final source of entertainment.

HEY IM ONLY DRUNK WHEN POSTING MY ARGUMENTS! NOT COVERED IN MOSS THAT'L TEACH YA YOU ZZZzzzzzzz...
Seriously though i post on those things for the same reason KarjamP does when someone insults him, To defend himself.
If it was a rule however, that would change my mindset.

And Blaze I don't think there will be anymore seeing how... well you know.

Another suggested rule: Don't troll. I know you might say this falls under "Don't be a jerk" but trolling is rather different. By trolling I mean provoking people to get a reaction out of them. I dunno, just a suggestion.

Hypocrite? Why are you acting so cold to me? Yes. I ban evaded, but as Karjam said I had good intentions. I wanted to apologize to you all for being so stupid in the past, please, don't do this.

I don't think so. It is so small that you haven't noticed. Look again above 'Good suggestion'. Super just enlarged it!

I could notice it with ease.

Then again, I'm used to reading things that small. >_<"

Oh.

Known and Unknown, you're just making yourself seem very paranoid towards Super, which may not be a good thing..

May not be bad thing either. Paranoia saves lives, everytime you do laundary, expect a monster to jump out and stab you. Then when it finally happens, you are totally ready.

Also if you can find out why the birds are plotting against you, that might help you find out the how

But in this case, it isn't.

How funny. You people are breaking a rule in the Rules thread.

True.

It's currently not an actual rule.

At least not yet.

I guess, 'Stay on topic' falls under 'No Spamming'.
Also, the guidelines are there for some reason. It's suggested that you follow them.

Offtopic posts in offtopic thread = on topic
Everything in off topic thread = on topic

See:

See how 'Everything' is on 'topic'.

So are you saying that everything in the off topic thread's on topic, even though it's supposed to be off topic?

I have a suggestion:

DO NOT REPLY TO SPAMBOTS

Should be pretty obvious, though, but still.

I have a feeling this is a bogus PM, just fishing for human interaction, trying to "learn" to recognize text from pictures?
