Post by: theginjaninja on November 25, 2012, 12:51:57 PM
I love spelunky but my save data just disappeared. all my shortcuts are gone, all my high scores, everything! I didn't press down the reset button, it just disappeared!
I had the lvl. 5 shorcut and about $100,000 on the lvl. 10 shortcut.

Did you wipe your computer or something?

Save data is reliant on registry data. If that's deleted, then bye bye save data.

It's strange that 2 people would post this problem on the same day. I might guess it has something to do with Windows?
Here's more info on how Spelunky saves scores in the registry: http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Portable_Spelunky

I fucked up my scores once when I tried modding

I think I changed the value of gold to some ungodly high amount and my highscore just got so messed up
negative plays and stuffz

Are people playing this on that demonspawn Windows 8? Could be the reason. All kinds of stuff screws up on that.

I have Windows 8.

It plays fine on my computer.

Don't say that it's unstable. Any instability can be blamed on drivers. :P

Except where there's no drivers compatible with it, or where it has INTENDED limitations./me looks daggers at unsigned driver certificate blocker. >:|

You do know you can disable that feature to allow unsigned drivers to install?

Besides, 32 bit versions of Windows doesn't require drivers to be signed in order for them to install.

I have the 32 bit version.  :P
