Title: Game Sales.
Post by: Wonkyth on February 11, 2012, 08:32:02 PM
Ok, here is where game sales can be mentioned.
While not many people are gonna mind too much, here are a few guidelines:
1. State what currency prices are in, e.g. US$.
2. Give the date that the sale expires, and other details like that.
3. If it's a region-specific sale, probably good to mention that. No good getting peoples hopes up, only to find it's not available in their country.
4. Double posts are ok as long as they're mentioning a new sale, and not just providing an update.

Game Music Bundle (http://www.gamemusicbundle.com/) 2.
Lots of music, all awesome from what I've listened to so far! ^__^
Includes stuff by some of my favourite composers, including Flashygoodness, Alec Holowka, Jim Guthrie, and David Saulesco(the Eternal Daughter soundtrack, actually).

Check this (http://groupees.com/bemine) out!
This bundle contains Wasteland Angel, Sideway New York, Xotic, Beep and The Ball. Also loads of music, and I think they mentioned somethig=ng abotu some other incentives. 20% goes to Child's Play(yeah, I know, they've getting loaded these days).

It was supposed to be early this morning(my time), but their servers got over-loaded, and so it is getting re-released again tomorrow.
the games look good, though. Especially interested in The Ball and Beep[i/]! :D

Also, it's PWYW>$1. :)

Bae, basically you're watching two of the developing teams make the games for this bundle, right now :3. they'll probably work on them after the bundle is done selling, so i think they games will be more polished afterwards. then again if i was smart and read the humble mumble, i'd probably know better. so disregard all i just said :D

Well, there's some interesting stuff going down right now!
First, there's a Promo weekend at GOG (http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_assortment) with a bunch of Activision games 50% off!
The titles are:
Quote
Betrayal at Krondor Pack
Call to Power 2
Dark Reign + Expansion
Dark Reign 2
Interstate ’76 Arsenal, The
Phantasmagoria
Phantasmagoria 2
Police Quest: SWAT 1+2
Return to Krondor
SWAT 3: Tactical Game of the Year Edition
I definitely loved the hell out of SWAT 4, but I haven't tried the earlier games in the series. Also of note is Dark Reign, which is one of the few RTSes I play regularly.

SECOND.
GamersGate is doing yet more epic sales (http://www.gamersgate.com/offers)!
Like, REALLY epic!
ALL DEUS EX STUFF IS 75% OFF!
That includes all three games, and the DLC for DX:HR. That means you can get DX:HR for less than a tenth of the price I originally payed for it, and ALL THE STUFFS for under $20!
At the same time, they've got some other cool stuff going on.
Here are some I highly recommend:
A Valley Without Wind(50% off)
Majesty 2 collection(75% off. all the seperate pieces are also 75% off)
Total Annihilation(50% off)

Post by: Moloch on April 05, 2012, 03:02:18 PM
Most of the recent Humble and IndieRoyale bundles haven't had much that interested me, but here's a new bundle where I could actually see myself playing every game:

IndieFort Bundle 1 (http://www.gamersgate.com/indiefort-bundle-1), which is put together by GamersGate - a site I had never looked into before, but seems similar to gog.com, in that you can download and play the games you've purchased without having to install and login to yet another goddamn gaming client. While some of these games also appear on Steam and Desura, I don't think the bundle includes keys for those clients, so these are all DRM-free. Cool. (There was an option to select individual titles in the bundle to be "gifts" when I purchased the bundle... I assume you would be gifting it to other GamersGate members, but I don't really know.)

Available April 5th until the 13th.
For $5.99 the bundle includes..

- Kenshi (http://www.lofigames.com/) (still in alpha), "An open ended, squad-based Strategy RPG"

- Cardinal Quest (http://www.cardinalquest.com/), a mouse-friendly arcadey roguelike.

- Black Market (http://www.bigblockgames.com/games/blackmarkethd/), a 2D (casual-friendly?) space trading/looting game, with arcade-like sidescrolling combat.

- Wanderlust: Rebirth (http://www.wanderlustgame.com/), a 4-player online action RPG with a visual style that looks heavily inspired by SNES's Zelda: A Link to the Past.

- Devil Whisky (http://www.devilwhiskey.com/), an old-school first-person turn-based dungeon crawler in the style of Dungeon Master (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/585/Dungeon+Master.html) and Eye of the Beholder (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/98/Eye+of+the+Beholder.html). (Though I'm more likely to play Legend of Grimrock (http://www.grimrock.net/) instead, when it comes out on April 11). I'm trying hard not to judge this title based on the horrid graphic-style and barely functional website that looks like it was designed in 1995.

- Steel Storm: Burning Retribution (http://one.steel-storm.com/), previously seen in other bundles and Steam sales, a top-down (also 1st/3rd person view?) arcade shooter where you control a hovercraft-like ship. Has single player campaign and online deathmatch, CTF or coop. This is a sequel, the original game is available for free.

As is typical with these bundles, paying more than the base price gives the extra cash to the devs, and bonus items will be revealed and included in the bundle based on how much extra money is generated.

All these games have some form of trial/demo available if you want to try them out first or are only interested in certain titles.

Minimum price is $4, and if you pay $10 or more you also get the stuff in Goal 1. I don't think you have to pay any specific amount to get the rest of the Goal levels.

Bah, I always hate begging, but I'm poor as I always am when they release one of these.  Anyone want to get me a below the average bundle?  I can repay you in cash or by doing a Let's play of Amnesia so you and everyone else in Mossmouth and Youtube can laugh at me as a run from the room, screaming like a baby.

I did get the Indie Royal Bundle, Dead Pixels is cool with lots and lots of references (every gun seems to be named after Resident Evil characters), I think Ship will be fun (need to make an S.S. Mossy), but what I was really looking forward to is Void. This is so surreal and imaginative, not sure how well I can play it but it does look very impressive.

Also, I didn't see any extra Ship keys, didn't you get some Wonkyth?

Dude, your too effing nice. Note that you already gave out several Humble Bundles as well as starting a topic where people could get whatever they want $5 and under. Yeah, all my giveaways were overshadowed....

Anyway, the Ship keys just didn't show up at the same time I guess. They were there when I logged on again. Played single player a bit, but the hunger/sleep/etc. stuff seems like it's gonna get pretty annoying. I've never had to eat/sleep/pee so much in half a day!

Also, Void. Fucking Void. Oh. My. God. That's all I can say for now.

Make sure to send it through Steam so you can see if someone has it or not first. I still have one to give too, but we should make a thread to organize a cruise once we get a good amount. I hate seeing everyone play TF2 all the time 'cause I can't :(

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Arucard on June 15, 2012, 06:02:10 AM
Same, on lowest resolution with minimal effects it still runs so slow on the tutorial I didn't even bother trying to play an actual game. I could already hear cries of 'N00B!!' Even though Half-Life Source/2/ep1 and Portal 1 and 2 run beautifully, episode 2 slows a bit though. Basically no other Source games give me trouble but that one, no clue why.

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Nathan on June 15, 2012, 03:17:34 PM
On my pc which runs xp it goes slow but on my laptop which runs windows 7 it works fine

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Sparkle on June 16, 2012, 10:35:03 AM
Portal 1 and Half-Life will run fine on low settings and no other memory hogging apps like Mozilla. But TF2, and really most of my steam games including BIT.TRIP RUNNER </3 don't run so well.

Including Left4Dead 2. It doesn't work at all.

Editedit: Also, we're very offtopic. So, maybe if we;re going to TF2 and Half-Life Engine speak, we should head to a new or current topic?

The Journey Down, the best adventure game since Grim Fandango, is now permanently half priced at £5/$7.

http://skygoblin.com/the-journey-down/

It was originally £10/$15 for the first chapter, but given the unknown amount of chapters and the length of chapters, it was deterring people since they didn't know how much they ultimately had to invest. It's now £5/$7. Took me about three hours to finish blind, will take more or less depending on how good you are at adventure games. The production values and general design are utterly top notch.

To be honest, I'd have much prefered a longer development cycle and all of the chapters making up a whole game in a single release. I don't understand the marketing/design decision of episodic content at all. Still, it is a wonderful little gem so far, and if it wasn't worth picking up before for anyone, it certainly is now!

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Wonkyth on June 27, 2012, 10:41:14 PM
In the case of Skygoblin, the episodic setup was required to make sure TJD was commercially viable.
But yes, TJD is pure gold! I'd been super excited about it ever since Theo first created the WIP thread for the free version, on the AGS forums. As soon as he announced they were going to be re-making it, I was pestering him to setup a pre-order so I could throw my damned money at him already! :D
Also yeah, it definitely brings in the same epic vibe that made Grim Fandango so awesome! :3
BTW, I take it you're an adventure game fan, then? :D

You mean like Space Quest/King's Quest etc?

These were part of a somewhat related (pretty much by name alone) series by Sierra games. Adventure games are generally point and click with puzzles, like Monkey Island and Sam & Max. But yes, all the 'Quest' games are adventure games too.

Not all of them! Interactive Fiction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_fiction) are considered Adventure games too! In fact, They where here BEFORE the point and click!

Not to mention the early graphical adventure games that you'd have to type in commands for the character in order to interact with the environment.

Also, some IF are made for storytelling and not for puzzles.

Ok, since the sales have pretty much drawn to a close for me, I thought I'd tally up what I bought:
LucasArts Adventure Bundle(Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, LOOM);
Crysis;
Beyond Good and Evil;
Chantelise;
The Longest Journey;
Demigod;
Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers;
L.A. Noire(with DLC);
Dungeon Siege 3;
Europa Universalis III: Complete;
Age of Empires III: Complete Collection;
Tiny Bang Story;
Metro 2033;
X-SuperBox(all the X games);
Saints Row: The Third;
Mount & Blade: Complete;
Prince of Persia;
Frozen Synapse: Red DLC;
Mirror's Edge;
Left 4 Dead;
Left 4 Dead 2;
Star Wars: KOTOR;
Bioshock 2;
Scary Girl;
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet;
Guns of Icarus;
Legend of Fae;
Penumbra: Black Plague - Gold Edition;
Scratches;
Toy Soldiers;
Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance;
Warlock - Master of the Arcane(with DLC);
Achron;
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: The Complete Edition;
Sid Meier's Civilization III: Complete;
Inside a Star Filled Sky;
Binding of Isaac Wrath of the Lamb;
Max Payne Bundle;
Audiosurf;
...aaand I think that's it. Some of those I already had on another platform, but the majority I got for very cheap.

Just added one more.

Crysis: $6.00
Prince of Persia Pack: $12.25

I do most of my gaming either on the bus or at school during free time, i.e. offline, so it doesn't log which one's I've played. Also quite a few of the games I have on steam I've either already played or have in DRM-free form. But yeah, there's quite a few I haven't played. :P

Post by: Sparkle on July 27, 2012, 01:21:42 AM
i need to get around to playing most of mine. but ugh. my computer's too weak anyway for much of anything.. >_>

anyway, new Humble Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/), it's Music.

Quote

The Humble
Music Bundle

Support six amazing musicians. Pay what you want for the Humble Music Bundle and receive six digital albums from the Internet's finest songsmiths. Christopher Tin, They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, and Hitoshi Sakimoto have assembled their best cuts for your listening pleasure. And if you pay more than the average price, you'll also receive OK Go's Twelve Remixes of Four Songs!

Back vital non-profits. You choose exactly how much of your purchase goes to support the musicians, as well as the Child's Play Charity and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, two non-profit organziations doing great work in the world. And if you like this deal, a tip to Humble Bundle would be greatly appreciated!

Download instantly, DRM-free. Once you complete your purchase, you will receive a link to your unique download page. You can download the tracks from any browser, any time, and play the MP3 or FLAC files from any audio program or device of your choosing.

The only artist i know off the top of my head there is Jonathan Coulton, who did I'm pretty sure nearly all the music for Portal 1/2, but maybe it was just "Still Alive" and stuff. Not exactly, sure; too lazy to look up.

~Also, too lazy to message directly, Wonk, you should make/post more chiptunes to your soundcloud. yeah. <3

Coulton only did the ending songs for both Portal games, but the classic Re: Your Brains is also in Left 4 Dead 2 (and on this album). I recognize the first song (Christopher Tin) from Civ 4, not sure of his rest though.

MC Frontalot was the main focus of a documentary called 'Nerdcore' (on Netflix last I saw) which is about basically unconventional Hip-hop artists.

Valkyria Chronicles music is self-explanatory, and you could probably find about They Might Be Giants and OK Go pretty easy, though I never knew they were indie .

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Nathan on August 14, 2012, 02:49:59 AM
Was it made with ags? If so I thought it was like a spinoff of game maker.

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Wonkyth on August 14, 2012, 02:58:12 AM
Spinoff? Hells no!
Game Maker was first released back in 1999, whereas AGS has been on the block since 1997. AGS is also free, and far nicer to use. :P
In fact, if you're up for a history lesson, it's actually where Yahtzee first became famous: Rob Blanc (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/Games.aspx/Detail/8) was good stuff!

Title: Re: Game Sales.

Post by: Wonkyth on August 14, 2012, 03:18:07 AM
It has it's own, fairly powerful scripting language with C-syntax (I learned it and jumped directly into C# after), and anything else you can just do with a plugin.

IndieFort Bunde 3: Available until Oct 1

There are 24 games available. Pick and choose what you like.
3 games = $3.99
6 games = $6.99
9 games = $8.99
All 24 = $19.99

http://www.gamersgate.com/indiefort-bundle

While their site is a bit ugly and poorly designed, GamersGate doesn't have a client you need to install, and I'm pretty sure you can gift any game you've bought to someone by email or on the site any time as long as you haven't downloaded/activated it.

Rochard - Side scrolling puzzle platformer
Shatter - Breakout with physics and boss battles
Space Pirates and Zombies - Space game
Torchlight - Birds eye view RPG with optional permadeath

Dustforce - Run and jump platformer where you clean things

Faerie Solitaire is on sale until Nov. 8 on Steam.
Price: Free
Platform: PC and Mac

This isn't one of those "play free until..." deals. You keep it forever.

It's very much in the style of a PopCap game...you may feel slightly embarassed if anyone around is seeing you playing a game with fairies and cartoony graphics, then suddenly an hour has passed and you don't care who's looking over your shoulder. Acheivements, pets, upgrades to purchase..all the usual stuff that gets you hooked.

The dev will be releasing a 'remastered' version in the future (available to anyone who own the standard version) that will have resolution options (this one is locked at 4:3 (800x600).

GOG.com is doing a 'black friday' sale (started already though) to pick 5 games for $10. Included are the Introversion games (Uplink, Darwinia, Defcon), Wadjet Eye games (Blackwell Bundle [4 games count as one!], Gemini Rue, Resonance, To the Moon), Amanita Designs games (Botanicula, Machinarium), Torchlight, Alan Wake: AN, and a few others. Great deal if you don't already own them all.

P.S. In case you never bought anything from GOG.com before, each game comes with bonus downloads like the guidebook, wallpapers, soundtracks, avatars, etc. Downloads are also DRM-free and linked to your account, so you can re-download as necessary. The sale also lasts through Monday.

GOG is secure. GOG is fantastic. Probably the best Digital Distribution channel there is. :D
Also, fwiw To The Moon is a Freebird Games game, not a Wadjet Eye game. :P
They just have a link to Freebird on their website. :D

It was a dollar cheaper on GOG, and earlier.  ;)

But I hope they make a nice sequel, there's a lot of stuff I wish you could do in this one. Like actually controlling an away party on planets, and basically interacting with stuff more (outside the ship) instead of random events.

50% off today.

Buy it from dev site: http://www.ftlgame.com/ (what I did) and it gets processed thru the humble bundle site, giving you Windows/Mac/Linux DRM-free download links as well as a Steam key.
Also available at GOG.

EDIT

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: Arucard on December 25, 2012, 04:57:08 AM
if you want sorry no games here? uhh...what?

Anyway, my rec from the Steam sale is the Alan Wake package, I wasn't really big about it when it released so never got the collectors edition. Eventually I bought it from Amazon, and this is an amazing game, probably the best acting I've ever seen in a video game. You can get the collector's edition, soundtrack alone is worth $20, and the DLC all for $20. If you liked Max Payne for anything other than bullet time, get this instead of Max Payne 3.

-actually I just looked and apparently the soundtrack doesn't include the episode ending songs, like Roy Orbison and David Bowie, which would be the reason I bought it. Everything composed for the game is still great but that Roy Orbison song is one of the best things in the game.

--Sorry I forgot, if you want more action than atmoshpere; Saint's Row 3 + all DLC for $7.50.

There's this:

You have to sign up for two different accounts, not sure how legit Playfire is, although I haven't had anything happen. I used a dual e-mail, just in case. :P
The four games look pretty good, though.

Nope, people are rushing to get them so quickly that they're quickly losing value.  I highly doubt the Tux will be worth more than 2 keys

I've found that trying to unbox an unusual can be a waste of time.  A person can unbox 100 crates and never get one.  It's a much better idea to try and buy an unusual from somebody.

-Solar 2
-NightSky HD
Beat the average (6.64 as of now) games:
-Dungeon Defenders
-Super Hexagon

All are for PC, Mac, Linux, and Android.

I think I'm going to pay $1 to get the steam versions, and then get the extra games that will invietably arrive for free. I'm excited to try Beat Hazard Ultra and Solar 2. What about you?

New Humble Bundle looks good, since I have an android to play it on, I have more reason to get it.  However, I lack money to buy it with, and what little spending money I do have cant be used for purchases outside of steam, oh well, maybe I can get the next one.

Anybody get the Indie Royale Debut Bundle (http://www.indieroyale.com/)? I'm only really interested in the Master of Alchemy, though Cognition looks pretty cool. Worried if they are processor heavy or anything though, I hate buying stuff I really want and not being able to play it at all.

Title: Re: Game Sales.
Post by: kj979 on March 11, 2013, 11:27:50 AM
So the last two Humble Bundles for Android included the original bundle from two bundles earlier as their extra games.

-Humble Bundle for Android 3 - after one week, included Humble Bundle for Android original games

-Humble Bundle for Android 4 - after one week, included Humble Bundle for Android 2 original games

So do you think Humble Bundle for Android 5 will include Humble Bundle for Android 3 original games? If so, I'd be happy, since I want Bit.Trip Beat.

Worth it for Cognition. It's pretty good, and it's a point-and-click, so there's little chance of it not running well. :P
Also I'm disappointed with Master of Alchemy...
With a name like that, I wish it was a fantasy tbs ala Master of Magic. :3

You kidding? It's easily the worst game of the three. Fantastic concept, but IMO trying too hard to go for Sandbox without giving me a real reason to want to explore the possibilities.

Have you actually played any of them? :P
I confess that I haven't played much of Splice due to dead computer, but what I played was pretty decent.
Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, however, was one of the best games of 2012 (yes I know it came out in 2011 on mobiles, but I'm a computer-only guy :P ).  A masterpiece of writing, visuals, music and general atmosphere, this one's a Must! :D

http://www.gog.com/pick_5

So you have a choice from about 20 games, you pick 5 and get 80% off. There's a little over 4 more days left for this offer.

At the moment I'm struggling to make my 5th choice, as there are a few games I already have on the list and several adventure games (which aren't my thing).

Some of non-adventure games:

- Defender's Quest: Indie tower defense where your party members are the towers and can be leveled-up. I played the demo and really enjoyed it.

- Legend of Grimrock - in case you didn't get this in a bundle/sale already.

- Pid - gorgeous platformer, heard it was hard.

- Chronicles of Riddick series: This stealth/action/brawling game has always gotten a lot of praise but I never bothered with it because it's based on a movie I have no interest in. Might as well give it a shot.

- one of the King's Bounty somethingsomething games. Turn based fantasy hexagonal princess shanana.

I've been thinking about getting Garry's Mod, but I have a question if any of you know the answer. If I get it, will I be able to use it fully without CS or TF2? I own Portal, so it can work, but I've heard that the majority of the stuff in the user-created area (or whatever it's called) is based off the TF2/CS textures.

Only bad thing is if you plan on using a gamepad, it only works with 360 controllers. Otherwise you just have to use Joy2Key, I found it really hard with a keyboard. But the style and everything is great.

Now Two years ago

Fix'd

Seriously though, full price is still a total bargain, one of the best games of life. You can take or leave American Nightmare, but the full game and add-on chapters are excellent. Especially if you like the original Max Payne games. Remedy didn't do the third, all though Rockstar did get their input to some extent apparently.

A Pay-What-You-Want bundle with five games from Polish indies. http://gamesrage.org/
This one is of particular interest because it contains King Arthur's Gold, which is quite definitely the most multplayer fun you'll ever have in a 2D game. Depending on mileage, it beats the socks of every other multiplayer game, regardless of dimensions! :P

Now some of you might be aware that for the most part, KAG is free. NOT ANY MORE!
KAG classic is free, ala minecraft, so if you've played KAG before then classic is what you'll know. KAG alpha = classic.
HOWEVER, the Beta has just recently been officially released (http://devlog.kag2d.com/post/56603730714/beta-is-out), and OOH BOY does it add some badass! :D
The differences between classic (alpha) and premium (beta) are roughly summed up in this handy infographic:

Odd Planet looks nice, but less 'inspired' by Limbo than 'directly using main concept of Limbo'.

Humble Introversion Bundle is now on HB weekly sale with Prison Architect added, now's the time to get it if you thought about Prison Architect, but felt the price was a little too steep.

It's worth noting you have to beat the price of $25 to get it though.

I don't have enough interest in Prison Architect that I would pay $30 (regular price) for an alpha, but I admire the balls they have to ask that much. Good luck to them. I already picked up all their earlier games in a previous bundle.

Wow, I didn't even realize that, just saw the bundle. Good catch. But I will say, even though it seems pretty steep, they really put a lot into their games. I haven't even played it for a while but still watch the dev diaries and it's already come a long way while still in alpha. Still, I can understand the fear of such a price tag.

Humble Origin Bundle out-

I know origin is really rather terrible, but I feel Dead Space, Dead Space 3, and Battlefield 3 are worth at least 5 dollars and a bad gaming platform.

++++++ Dead Space, Burnout Paradise, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor, and Mirror's Edge all have Steam Keys available, too.

Hate to ask as always, but out of steam are impossible for me to make due to various reasons, would someone mind getting me a $1 bundle?  I can repay you with something on steam.

Played Particulars at PAX Aus, was great fun. Eador is not my favourite kind of fantasy tbs, but it's still half decent. :)

Pick 5 for up to 80% off on GOG.com (http://www.gog.com/high5)

Yes, you do have to buy 5 to get the deal, but pretty nice choices and you can get all 5 for less than the normal price of one.

It's nice, too bad most the games won't play for me, and the others I have. :P
Anyone crazy for that bundle? I'll get you one, haven't bought a real one for a while. You'll also get the secret not yet known extra game to be revealed in the near future, because I always pay over the average.

Also, SquEnix 60% off sale on GOG now; Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain and Thief series among the own or regret it collections.
