Seeing as ipwnu is no longer with us :'( And his idea was such a great one, I thought we should continue it!

This should be a team effort seeing as its about all of us, so I am posting the exe and the sauce here. feel free to ad new additions to the mod and post them on this topic to avoid confusion.

What will you replace? (What enemy/object/whatever you want to replace)
What will you be? (What, specifically will you want to be)
Why do you want to replace that? (Give a reason for replacing that thing)
Notable traits of the replacement? (Describe your idea in detail.)

Example:

What will you replace? Snake
What will you be? An ant of course
Why do you want to replace that? Snakes don't deliberately hurt spelunker And there is alot of them, so it could be an ant colony and finally the snake pit could be an ant hill, kinda
Notable traits of the replacement? Just a Wight, oversized ant

Applications should also be on this topic to avoid confusion.

Rules:

Do not edit any re-skin that isn't yours unless the person who does own it gives permission.

If you can, make it something that has some relevance to you on this forum

You may re-skin anything in the game no matter how mundane it is. eg rock,Par Spelunker, Shopkeep and Damsel

Nothing that isn't kid friendly.

EVERYONE! What is something RELATED TO THIS FORUM! that could go inplace of the messages that apear at the start of the game?

Eg: AS THE FORUM PAGE SLOWLY LOADED
      I CHECKED MY MESSAGES
     AND PRAYED FOR ROCKS TO BE EDIBLE

Note: The second line allways starts with I, And the last line starts with AND

Idea by mvskoke.

ps you dont have to suggest all three lines at once.

School starts today so expect less updates to this from me but remember this is not my mod, this is everyone's mod. If you do add anything to the mod that is suitable I will post it on the main page I just wont make so many of my own.

Also please make sure that you have the latest Sauce before making additions

Kudos to mvskoke for being the only other one to make his own additions to the mod

Also feel free to work on that Lightsaber thing i was talking about

Yes. Recolor it to orange and have some small stars spinning around in the animation also. (The stars would be just a change in graphic. Not a new attack)

And what were you going to change the "I hear snakes"  to?

Why do you want to replace that? I like Monty Python and the Worms series.
Notable traits of the replacement? Explodes after three seconds, no more, no less... Kind of looks like my new avatar. Also explosion could be bigger than normal bomb but if it turns out to be difficult, just leave it the same.

Its already done Im adding the new exe and source to mediafire as we speak. for the future I opened the machete object and clicked the code that is executed with it the text for shops is right in there.

Changed bomb sprite in the hud to look like the holy hand gernade. Shopkeepers now refer to lightsabers as a lightsaber instead of a machete ( a Lightsaber for 7000$) Changed a bit of messeges from kali gifts

Ill do Have done a little tinkering, (eg making bomb boxes into holly hand grenade boxes) and put it into the main files

Why do you want to replace that? A) Burning yetis are awesome b) Occasionally they take revenge and throw you into the pit or play tennis with you. Fun times.
Notable traits of the replacement? Just like an ordinary yeti, but consistently burning. I believe the charmander from the pokemod does something similar, so you might be interested in looking at that.

off-topic: 10 runs to go till I reach 300 finishes :D. I'll post some new funky stuff when I get there.

I doubt ill be able to update this till about the end of the month as I will be away, but this is suposed to be a team thing so if anyone wants to update it feel free. to just post a reply with the sause and excutable and ill be sure to update as soon as I can.

Also the burning yeti is done

It was the easiest of all

Simply take the "burning = 100" from magma man collision with oenemy and paste it in the step event of the yeti!

ITS THAT EASY!

Sorry for triple posting but I need help and the fourums dont count it as a new post when you modify your last post

I plan on adding the other colours of lightsaber simply because I like Purple! (not bright/pinky/redish purple I like the Blueish/Dark purple like the bat: :spl-batf:)

Im not doing it in a normal way (making new objects) though, im making the lightsaber have a random chance to be a different colour when it is created.
OK that is WAAAY to complicated for someone of my lack of skill
instead I will have the lightsaber have a chance to turn into a different coloured lightsaber, this means making new objects and having the green lightsaber destroy itself while creating a saber of the other colour

this way I dont have to ad the new colours to shops or crates (and I can make a lightsaber shop! if I ever find out how)

It will be able to be:
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • And Purple

But if you ever:
  • Steal from a shopkeeper
  • Kill a shopkeeper
  • Sacrifice
You will only have red lightsabers.

Just want everyone's opinion on this and also if you know please tell me wear i can find the code for when you swing the machete

ill post the sauce or exe if you want me to

Um, it doesn't bump the thread, but it does highlight the 'new' icon next to it, so...no need to triple post.

Machete swing code is somewhere in oPlayer1's step event.  It's among other things you use while holding (like the mattock, guns, etc.).

Small suggestion for the ant: the black lines blend in with the background, perhaps make them another colour to make them stand out? I think they are very cute though.

How do you make sprites by the way? It seems fun to do, but I haven't got a clue how.

Did you notice that the ants in game are almost identical to my avatar?
Ill see if I can find a different colour that still looks blackish but wont blend in. (dark blue maby?)

Game Maker has a built in (and very good) image editor. I usually do the sprites pixel by pixel. Its from playing Drawn to Life 2 alot ;D

If it's not too much trouble, could you smooth the HHG's icon in the bar at the top, the right side is a bit pointy.
Also, the sticky bomb is still the old icon (you can keep it if someone else wants to have that particular thing).

I didnt want anyone to resprite him either but making him the moss man is a good Idea

And Olmec being derek is good too

Hey everyone! Remember me?  ;D

Busy life has been busy and I haven't played Spelunky in AGES, but I really DO want to get back to it some day. Also, I would love to be a part of this. I don't really have any artistic ability so I wouldn't really be very good at making a new sprite... here are my thoughts though.

If you guys aren't opposed to me gaying up the place, I would love it if:

Name? Bazly
What will you replace? The Damsel
What will you be? Me!
Why do you want to replace that? I would love to see Spelunky saving little sprite version of myself. The kiss bit will look particularly funny  :-*.
Notable traits of the replacement? Again, I don't have much artistic talent... but I do have an idea what I would want it to look like if someone here is good with sprites. I have a "cartoon me" that a friend drew for a comic book and it shows exactly what I would want to look like in cartoon/sprite form!

Alternatively, we could replace the Damsel with either Terra or Celes from Final Fantasy 6, given that it's my favourite game. Wouldn't be as much fun as MYSELF being in there but, you know, I can't do this MYSELF and I don't want to assume that you are all comfortable changing the sexual orientation of the Spelunker  :P.

Seeing myself as Starlow just makes me upset.

Anything is fine by me! I've been practicing pixel art myself because I want to develop my own game, but I'm not very good at art generally so I'm still a LONG way off from being able to do something like that.

Notable traits of the replacement?
  • Looks like this but in purple clothes:

  • Speaks in bad grammer.
  • Corpse has very high favour to Kali
  • Doesn't bleed
When provoked (ie, "angered"):
  • Flies around you even phrasing through walls
  • Charges at you often (So that you can attack him).
  • Every now and then, he shoots powerful plasma blasts from his hand at you (he has to do this when there's no wall between him and you).
  • When knocked out and happans to be phrasing through walls, He doesn't die. Instead, he falls through them until he's no longer phrasing through walls. Can die when knocked unconsious while phrasing through the borders as if he fell in the bottomless pits in the Ice levels.

For balancing purposes, everything else acts the same, including the amount of HP and stun.

I might update this with dereks head but I dont have time to sprite you. Im too busy making shane and his cat for the game me and nathan are doing as well as the background for the other game nathan and I are doing. That being said I think super added himself so if he sends me that gmk file it would be good
