Title: Saveable mod
Post by: ANT on January 03, 2012, 04:03:21 PM
My first mod!  :D

This mod Allows you to save And load at any level transition or the main menu!
Press S at a suitable room and name your save to save!
Press L at a suitable room and type in the name of your save to load!

Notes:

*Stats from this mod will be in Saveable stats.txt
*The music will stop when you load or save to avoid sound errors,
*Saves will appear in the form of files in the folder the game is, to delete saves simply delete the corresponding file
*You may have an infinite amount of saves
*You can only save and load in transitions between levels and the main menu room  to spare your conscience
*In the sauce you will find an object called oSave in the "mod" group, this is where the change takes place

Feel free to modify and use this mod as you wish as long as you don't pretend you made it.

I did that on purpose to see if someone would spot it.

Thank you so much for this being available again! This is EXACTLY what I've been trying to get (a save mod).

However I am having issues with loading a saved game after I've closed the program. Basically when I try to reload the game after I've closed the program, it freezes. Is this a regular occurrence, am I missing something? Any ideas anyone? ???

Hmm. Doesn't do that for me. Let me make sure I understand right. It works okay if you save and load in the same session, but if you close the program in between it locks up?

Loading a save from a previous session freezes my game too. It's interesting that it's NOT happening to you, Urza. I thought it was mentioned before (for some other mod) that it was caused by the game having different references to the external dll scripts between sessions (in this case supersound.dll).

..If you remove the supersound.dll and click 'Ignore' several times to get past the errors at startup, the game will load the save without freezing.

Are either of you still using Windows XP (like I am)? If not, perhaps running it in compatibility mode would help.

I was gonna try it, but HOW DO I SAVE? My ropes are set to 'S'. D:
Nevermind. :P

I tried it in Compatibility Mode, and I get no freezes when I load a game. Don't know if it would if I did'y use Compatibility Mode.

Well, turn compatibility mode back off and do it again. For science!

But I do "Aperture Science"!

Okay, it freezes when he enters the door! Congrats, we (okay, just you) found the problem.
Wait... now it started working again... he entered the door and...
...And now it crashed. IDK what to say.

I have 32-bit if that matters that much.
