Title: Jetpack lifespan?
Post by: eguee on September 26, 2009, 05:40:22 PM
As in, how many "jumps" can you do before it runs out of fuel?

Infinite - There's only a limit for how long it can be used in a single jump.

Best item in the game much?  ;D

Keep in mind, though, that grabbing a ledge, clinging to a wall, or grabbing a rope/ladder does not recharge it, only landing on the ground.

Yeah. I mean how many times can you press the jump button before you have to recharge.

Depends. I can do it 10-12 times before it runs out, but I press it in very quick and short intervals.

If you just hold the jump button, it's plenty to go up one floor. I dunno exactly how far left or right you can go with it though, at least a third a level's worth.

When I first heard of the jetpack item, I naturally assumed there'd be a fuel limit, just like you get only 6 arrows with a bow.

Don't think of it as how many jumps, it's a duration. You can have one long jump (press and hold it) and run out fast, or a lot of short bursts and be airborn longer. What you should test is how many seconds it is and get use to it. (below a ledge that is 2 spaces above the floor, for instance, when failing will not crater you)

I always assumed that there was a limited number of those bubbles that you could pump out.

There is, as many as you can in the time it takes for the ghost to get you!

I can't tell you how many times I've been in that situation.
